This week at Lukestone Care Home we wanted to bring the benefits of clay art to our residents as it provides creative stimulation and encourages social interaction.
We brought in two types of clay in different colours – white, blue, green and purple. The clays also had two different textures wet-smooth and dry-smooth, which added to the sensory experience.
We made rose sculptures and used different tools to make textures in the clay for our leaves and branches.
Working with clay can help develop fine motor skills and encourage focus; it was great to see Brian just exploring the clay and observing us making different shapes and forms.
A really great session which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
