On the occasion of World Book Day on Friday 3 March, we spent our day crafting art journals with ourresidents.
We found old books which were not in the best condition and reused them for this activity. Our residents found it difficult to taint the pages but after viewing the sample art journal owned by Mihaela, our Team Leader, they were more receptive towards the activity. As we covered the pages of the books white the residents found it easy to add in other colours, stickers, and quotes as well.
One of our residents, Betty immediately twirled her paint brush making a big face and we named it ‘Micky’ as it had distinct ears like the classic cartoon character. Others like Kathleen, were looking forward to pealing off the stickers and pasting them in their scenic pages. Meanwhile, some like Bob were only interested in scanning through the journal books Mihaela had brought in.
The entire day was a blast of creative fun!
