Celebrating International Womens Day with flowers at Lukestone Care Home

On Wednesday 8 March, Lukestone Care Home celebrated International Women’s Day with a trolley full of flowers!

When we displayed the flowers on our table for everyone to see, our residents came rushing over to smile and admire all the daffodils and tulips. We put out four clear jars so residents could arrange flowers of their choice and personalise them according to their taste.

Tess was the first person who excitedly picked and placed her flowers, one after another without rest until she was satisfied with her display. Later, we took the flowers around our lounge on our trolley which made many residents happy, just watching or holding a few in their arms.

Kathleen and David crafted their own bouquets and David wanted his to be displayed right in the centre of the table and said that was where it would look best in the lounge.

Later, our residents’ bouquets were wrapped in polka dot cellophane, with a green, blue, white, or pink ribbon. At the end of the day, our staff were gifted them to wish them a very happy Women’s Day. Even our Home Manager Milana and Business Support Officer Terry were presented with bouquets made by our residents. A beautiful gesture!
