VE Day fun at Lukestone Care Home

In celebration of Victory in Europe, here in Lukestone Care Home, our staff dressed up in their best ‘Land Army’ uniforms from the 1940s.

We were greeted with big smiles and cheers wherever we entered in our uniforms. Similarly, when given the opportunity to wear them, some of our residents like Brian was overjoyed. He wore it with pride and gave a salute to the camera.

Later, the uniformed ladies brought out a box which was painted and decorated with photos and posters of war time by the residents. As some of us were putting the memory box together, residents in the lounge enjoyed listening to the Forces’ Sweetheart of World War II, ‘Vera Lynn’. Everyone particularly loved it when we played, ‘We’ll Meet Again’, and ‘The White Cliffs of Dover’.
