This autumn at Lukestone Care Home has been very busy, with our residents celebrating some special events over the past few months.
September
In September we celebrated Arts in Care Homes Week, leading up to the Art in Care Homes Day on Sunday 24 September. During that week we invited all our departments to join in expressing themselves through art. We painted on a big wooden canvas made by our handyman Darren, Jarna played her ukulele for us, we made tissue paper pom-poms and had a dance activity creating lots of laughter and fun.
We also had a music lab, where we explored the sound of different instruments such as tambourines, guitar and the ukulele.
October
In October we celebrated Halloween with singer Harvey and we enjoyed dressing up and having a scrumptious celebration cake made by our Chefs. Also in October we celebrated Mary and her husband Ian’s 58th wedding anniversary and organised a nice afternoon tea for them.
During the month we welcomed Tickled Pink Productions (for the third time!) who put on a lovely show for our residents.
November
This month, we’ve celebrated Burns Night by making collages about Guy Fawkes and reminiscing about his life; one of our ladies impressed us all with all the knowledge she had about Guy Fawkes!
We celebrated International Chef Day and said a big ‘Thank you’ to our fantastic Chefs Bhim and Ellie for their commitment and hard work.
It’s been a busy few months and we’ve enjoyed all the music, food and celebrations with our ladies and gents!
