Last week we were excited to host an ‘international cuisine’ lunch at Lukestone Care Home, when our staff brought in foods they had prepared themselves that reflected their respective countries.
We decorated the table with the represented nations – India, Romania, Nepal and England – and filled every inch with wonderful dishes which our staff and some residents enjoyed.
The variety was very impressive. We were able to sample:
- Pork dumplings
- Vegetable curry
- Cashew, onion and vegetable biriani
- Sri Lankan style butter chicken
- Chicken curry
- Fried plantain
- Vegetable samosas (spicy but really lovely!)
- A number of different meat and rice dishes
- Marbled Romanian cake
- Fried doughnuts
It was fantastic to smell and taste different dishes from around the globe. Michael, one of our residents, really enjoyed his curry and rice.
We were thrilled to join together in sharing our cultures. Thank you to all our cooks. What an amazing lunch experience!
