Here at Lukestone Care Home, we are hosting a raffle at our Christmas party on Monday 19 December to fundraise for an Interactive Dementia Table for our residents.
We have been encouraging family and staff to donate prizes if they can and we were delighted when one of our resident’s relatives, Sandra, brought in a variety of gifts when she came to visit her sister Mary recently.
Sandra kindly gifted some wonderful knitted Christmas stockings, cute crafted porcupines and handmade wooden decorations for our raffle. She knitted each and every one of the stockings and porcupines herself and also gave all the wooden crafts a special personalisation, making it even more meaningful.
She generously donated a box full of handmade brightly coloured red and green porcupines for our residents of Lukestone, which was such a lovely surprise! They have such an adorable appearance and are soft to the touch. We were all in awe of the creativity and hard work that went into the completion of all the individual porcupines. Such a talent!
Linda, our Activity Champion, and Tess really enjoyed the porcupines; Tess was very surprised when she saw the soft toys appear and when she held the knitted porcupine she was extremely happy. Like our staff, she was definitely impressed by them.
Later, Linda handed the little mammals to our other residents who happily cuddled with their new friends.
Huge thanks to Sandra for such a kind gesture. Her beautiful crafts have created so many smiles!
