On Wednesday 16 November we welcomed Katia from St Michael’s Church to Lukestone Care Home for a special service in celebration of Remembrance Day.
Katia organised special hymns and sequences for our residents to honour the armed forces of the First World War. Before starting the service she gave out poppies, which were handmade with tissue paper and strings, to all our residents.
The main service was in our lounge where we played hymns on the television and provided interested residents and staff with the lyrics to singalong. Maryann from our team was singing and dancing with Marlene which brought a lovely energy to the room, spreading positivity to everyone who watched the pair enjoying themselves. Soon, many of us joined in to sing or dance with them.
A lovely shared day of celebration and music.
