On Saturday 14 January, our Lukestone Care Home residents and their families enjoyed a late New Year’s celebration, with music from entertainer Peter Kneebone and plenty of dancing!
It really was heart-warming to see our residents laughing and engaging with their families – holding hands, dancing and singing together.
Ann showed everyone her dance moves with our new Recreational and Well-Being Lead, Mihaela, while other residents joined in the fun when our jovial Recreational and Well-Being Champion Linda, hand-in-hand, led them to the dance floor.
Ann, Mary and Marlene happily smiled as they enjoyed themselves. At one point, Peter had everyone in our lounge waving their arms when he sang ‘Sweet Caroline’; this was so beautiful to witness and made for a really special moment.
An amazing buffet spread was organised by our Head Chef, Mandy and her team who were hard at work the entire day making everything perfect. All our guests could not help but come back for more, especially for the delicious desserts!
We also welcomed our Recreation and Well-Being Manager, Viv Stead, who was most engaging with everyone.
The party continued with a fun raffle we’d organised, hosted by Linda. Our members of staff, residents and their families all enjoyed the prizes won in the raffle. Brian won in one of the rounds and chose a chocolate box which he lovingly said he would gift to his grandma.
We are happy to announce that we raised around £150 from the day which will go towards our fundraising for an Interactive Dementia Table, that will help to elevate engagement and enhance wellbeing for our residents.
