Our residents at Lukestone Care Home love to paint but are not too keen on all the mess it leaves, so Mihaela our Activities Team Lead brought out a few materials including bottles of paint, plastic wrap, scissors and paint rollers to solve this issue for our recent arts session.
On Tuesday 24 January, we helped our residents choose their favourite colours and supported them on how they would like their paint to be distributed on the paper. After this was done, we added plastic wrap to cover the entire paper, enveloping the blobs of paint on top.
We cut the wrap up and handed out the paint roller to our residents so they could have fun spreading the colours out in any direction. All our ladies and gents really enjoyed this part of the activity!
Later, when everyone was satisfied with their work, we lifted the plastic wrap to see the final creation. Our residents were very pleased with the results, many commenting that they turned out beautifully.
It was lovely to see all our residents enjoying the messy art without any mess! A few residents even confidently used their own fingers to press on to the plastic to get a good feel of the paint spreading, safe in the knowledge they wouldn’t get paint on their fingers.
Seeing how cleanly everything was wrapped, other residents who were observing also excitedly joined in on the activity as well. A very successful arts session!
