Our lovely residents at Lukestone Care Home enjoyed a Sound Therapy session last week with James, who is a Rhythm and Sound Therapist from The Sonic Sanctuary.
James used sounds from all different kinds of musical instruments to engage and relax our ladies and gents. Some of our residents enjoyed the calming sounds, whilst others were very curious about all of the different instruments and wanted to play them.
James placed the drum near to each of our residents and the rhythm and vibration it produced gave each person a feeling of relaxation, connection and joy. The experience is particularly soothing for those in the later stages of life, living with Dementia. Our team members also gave it a try and everyone loved the interaction with sound.
