Last week our residents at Lukestone Care Home were busily preparing their passports and boarding passes for our armchair travel to Hong Kong to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
We began our adventure on Friday. To make our residents’ journey pleasant, we began the day with relaxing Tai Chi exercises. After that, our residents were warmly welcomed on board by our expert air hostess Hayley, who looked very smart in her airline uniform. When everyone was comfortably seated and ready to take off, we watched departing from the pilot’s cockpit on YouTube!
During the flight, members of our crew served fortune cookies prepared by captain Monika and we listened carefully to Hayley’s essential safety announcement. To find out more about our destination, our residents listened to a short presentation about Hong Kong.
Our fantastic Chef offered a variety of Chinese dishes for lunch which our ladies and gents thoroughly enjoyed.
After lunch we organised a selection of activities related to Chinese New Year, including word searches, crosswords, trivia and listening to Chinese music. We had decorated our lounge with balloons and red Chinese lanterns and everyone really loved entering into the spirit of the day, including some of our staff who looked fantastic in their colourful Chinese dresses.
We loved seeing so many happy smiling faces, we can’t wait for our next cruise which is destined for India!
