On Wednesday 15 September we started our ‘Carry on Camping’ adventure at Lukestone Care Home, continuing our armchair travels on to beautiful Scotland.
To set the scene we build a camp, complete with a tent, sleeping bags, blankets and a campfire with cooking equipment in our lounge! We also had a wonderful backdrop of an evening woodland camping scene, together with a display of Scottish flags and posters. Our lovely resident Ann couldn’t resist testing out our tent for comfort!
We all enjoyed singing along by the campfire and it was enhanced by Jahrna and Monika, our talented staff members, who played the guitar and sang.
For many of our residents, it was a precious moment to reminiscence about holidays from the past.
As part of the fun we held a quiz about Scotland, read all about the legend of Nessie and ate delicious Scottish-themed food served by our great Chef Mandy.
We could choose from various dishes including;
- Cullen Skink
- Cock-a-Leekie traybake
- Haggis with ‘neeps and tatties’
- Delightful Cranachan dessert
We all enjoyed the day’s adventures and we can’t wait to camp again next month when we’ll be visiting Wales!
