At Lukestone Care Home, we had a wonderful time celebrating National Potato Day with some light-hearted crafts that brought plenty of smiles to our residents. We had great fun turning ordinary potatoes into funny characters by decorating them with pipe cleaners and adding pairs of googly eyes.
We also sliced up potatoes to use as paint stamps, creating colourful patterns and bright artwork that really brought out everyone’s creativity. What made the activity even more enjoyable were the conversations it sparked – our residents chatted about how many different things potatoes can be used for besides eating.
It was a lovely afternoon of crafting, reminiscing and companionship – all inspired by the humble potato!
