Harvest Festival was celebrated this year on Sunday 6 October. It’s such a traditional celebration, usually taking place on the Sunday closest to the harvest moon, around the autumn Equinox, and we wanted to celebrate it at Lukestone Care Home as it’s a wonderful opportunity to give thanks to nature for giving us so many gifts such as fruits, grains and flowers.
We were delighted to welcome Father John and Katya from Saint Michael’s Church, who gave blessings to our Home, and we all reflected on what we all receive from mother nature. We have a good connection to our local church and Father John and Katya are always supporting us with our events which we are very grateful for.
Katya offered our residents fruits picked from her garden and we used these to help decorate our dining room, together with some lovely crocheted pumpkins made by our Activities Lead Mihaela, helped by our residents. Katya also made a beautiful apple necklace to celebrate the event.
Happy Harvest Day!
