On 7 December, our Recreation and Well-Being Team at Lukestone Care Home worked with a group of residents to frost some festive fairy cakes.
Ann started by pouring meringue and butter with some help. While Stanley, Clara and Dawn helped mix the batter. Brian chose his favourite colour for the icing, so we added blue food colour in the kitchen and stuffed it in the piping bag.
Marian, a member of our Care staff, joined hands with Linda to help Gillian and Ann use green piping on the gingerbread Christmas trees. They made those trees come alive while dressing it in green strings and decorating it with colourful sprinkles!
After filling the piping bag with our icing, Bhim, our Assistant Chef, showed us the correct way of decorating the cakes. Then, everyone came closer to the table where we were displaying the cakes and watched us swirl the nozzles as the frosting flowed, filling the tops deliciously in blue.
Lastly, we added edible Christmas themed candies; we served these with gingerbread Christmas trees to our residents in the sensory room.
