Dementia Awareness
Here at Lukestone Care Home we celebrated Dementia Action Week (19-25 May) by engaging our dear residents, family members and colleagues in some themed arts and crafts.
We created a large tree design on canvas and filled the leaves with Dementia Awareness messages written by everyone involved in the activity, describing our definitions of dementia or experiences of it. It made a powerful centrepiece for discussion and reflection.
Celebrating diversity
For our Diversity Day celebrations on Wednesday 21 May we designed another eye-catching art display, this time cutting out flags from different countries to put on our canvas poster – with the word ‘Hello’ written in an array of different languages, encouraging people to learn this simple greeting from different cultures.
We do love being creative at our Home, and these two projects were a wonderful focus for our residents to enjoy together.
