We had a great time last week at Lukestone Care Home celebrating ‘National Fun at Work Day‘ and ‘International Cake Day‘ with our residents on Friday 27 January.
Our Team Lead, Mihaela tweaked the idea of a ‘casual Friday’ to an ‘unusual Friday’! We asked everyone to ‘dress their unusual best‘ with funky and weird combinations, wherever their imaginations could take them.
On Fun at Work Day, our team members came in with overturned shirts, trousers and other layers. We brought out our bright and best wigs too, so anyone could wear them and as soon as they arrived in our main lounge they were worn by our staff and residents. Everywhere the wig wearing ladies and gentlemen went, there were smiles, compliments and laughter.
Our Assistant Chef Bhim and her team made some delicious cupcakes which we decorated with our residents, adding icing and chocolate toppings. Our ladies and gents couldn’t resist taking a bite of their cakes as soon as they were happy with the finished look – like Marlene who was very eager and quickly devoured hers as soon as Linda helped her finish piping it with the icing.
Later in the afternoon our kitchen staff made a stylish cake in celebration of ‘International Cake Day’ so all our team at Lukestone could enjoy a surprise treat. Yummy!
