1940s themed party fun at Lukestone Care Home

Last week we were excited to host our very own 1940s themed party here at Lukestone Care Home.

We decorated our lounge with red, white and blue balloons, hanging decorations and bunting and some of our staff and residents dressed up with accessories to celebrate the era.

Our lovely singer performed without a microphone (as they didn’t have them in the 1940s!) and we all enjoyed her super voice and sang a lot of well known 40s songs together like ‘Run rabbit run‘ and ‘Roll out the barrel‘.

Our menu for the day was themed too. We tucked into some lovely buffet food at the party and then an authentic supper. We had fish and chips, egg and chips, Lord Wooten pie (a vegetable pie) and bacon roly poly, followed by ginger sponge with lemon sauce, fruit and cream, and coconut cream using a 1940s recipe.

We all had such a wonderful time enjoying the party atmosphere and reminiscing about the 40s era. We were also delighted to share the event with some of our friends from our sister Home, Lulworth House.

A super time was had by all.
